This Privacy Policy explains how Contract Guardians collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile application(s), website(s), and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1) What We Collect
A) Information you provide
We collect information you provide directly, such as:
Account & profile information
- Name, email address, phone number (if provided)
- Profile details you choose to add (company name, service categories, profile photo)
Authentication
- If you choose Google Sign-In, we receive basic account information from Google such as your name and email address to create/login to your account.
Project information
- Project requests, descriptions, budgets, preferences
- Text-based location information you enter (for example, city/state or a street address for a Project)
- Proposals, scopes, milestones, change orders, approvals, and related documentation
- Messages between users and files you upload (photos, videos, PDFs, receipts)
Photos you choose
- If you upload photos via the app’s image picker, we access only the photos you select and share.
Support and communications
- Information you share when contacting support (messages, attachments, troubleshooting info)
B) Payments & subscription information (Stripe)
We use Stripe to facilitate payment features (including card payments and Contractor payouts where enabled).
- Stripe may collect payment card information and payout onboarding details (for example, bank account details and tax information) directly, depending on the features you use.
- We receive limited payment-related information (for example, payment status, transaction IDs, and other confirmation details) to operate the Services.
- We do not store full card numbers in our systems.
If you purchase subscriptions through Apple or Google, those platforms process payments and provide us limited subscription status information (for example, whether a subscription is active).
C) Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we may automatically collect:
Device and app data
- Device model, OS version, app version
- Basic log data such as IP address and timestamps
- Performance and diagnostics data needed to keep the Services working reliably
Push notification tokens
- We collect device push tokens to send notifications.
- On iOS, notifications use APNs; on Android, notifications use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
D) What we do not collect
- No precise GPS location (we do not collect latitude/longitude coordinates)
- No advertising IDs / no remarketing
- No third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- No crash reporting SDKs (no Sentry, Crashlytics, etc.)
2) How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Services
- Create and manage accounts and authentication (including Google Sign-In if you choose it)
- Facilitate Projects, proposals, milestones, change orders, and communications
- Enable Payment Services and prevent fraud
- Send service-related messages (including push notifications if enabled)
- Maintain safety, security, and integrity, including detecting prohibited conduct
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms
3) How We Share Information
A) Sharing between users (Homeowners and Contractors)
Information is shared as part of normal functionality, for example:
- Contractor profile details visible to Homeowners
- Homeowner Project details shared with Contractors involved in bidding/working the Project
- Messages, proposals, milestones, files, and approvals shared within a Project
B) Service providers (processors)
We share information with vendors that help us run the Services, including:
- Stripe (payment processing and payouts)
- Google (FCM) and Apple (APNs) (delivery of push notifications using device push tokens)
- Cloud hosting/storage and communications providers as needed to operate the Services
These providers are authorized to use information only as necessary to provide services to us.
C) Legal, safety, and compliance
We may disclose information if necessary to:
- Comply with law or legal process
- Protect the rights, property, and safety of Contract Guardians, our users, or others
- Investigate or prevent fraud, security issues, or Terms violations
D) Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to standard protections.
E) We do not sell personal information
We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4) Your Choices and Controls
- Profile & account settings: You can update certain account/profile details in the app.
- Notifications: You can disable push notifications in your device settings.
- Device permissions: You can control permissions (photos/camera/notifications) in device settings.
- Account deletion: Email info@contractorguardians.com with subject “Account Deletion Request.” We may verify your identity before processing.
5) Data Retention
We keep information as long as reasonably necessary to:
- Provide the Services and maintain your account
- Complete Projects and maintain records of transactions and communications
- Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and reporting obligations
- Resolve disputes and enforce agreements
We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed, unless retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (for example, fraud prevention and dispute records).
6) Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7) Children’s Privacy
The Services are not intended for children under 13 (or under the age where parental consent is required). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8) International Users
We are based in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the U.S., your information may be processed and stored in the U.S. or other locations where we or our service providers operate.
9) Colorado Privacy Rights (Colorado Residents)
Colorado residents may have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of personal data, and to opt out of certain processing in some circumstances. To exercise rights, email info@contractorguardians.com with subject “Colorado Privacy Request.” If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying with subject “Colorado Privacy Appeal.”
10) Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new Effective Date. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required by law.
